My Teaching Project
The Presidential Election of 1896
This teaching project was completed in the final semester of my undergraduate studies. For the project, I choose to focus on two aspects of the presidential election of 1896; one, the rise of Populism in the United States and the election itself. I am thinking about this as if the two topics were going to be addressed during one week of instruction (like during a class that meets on Tuesday and Thursday, for instance). Each class period would be about 1 hour and 15 minutes long.
I received very positive feedback from Prof. Ford who wrote, "I really loved this project, and the care with which you developed it and gave it depth and meaning. I hope you will be able to use it someday, or at least view it as a model for planning a course. Thank you for your sophisticated work. you are a historian through and through, and I really appreciate your care and attention to our disciplines core values and practices."
